Steps to Determine How a Planet Will Give Results in a Particular Year (Lal Kitab Method)

To analyze a planet’s effect in a specific year using Lal Kitab, follow these structured steps:

Step 1: Identify the Planet’s Position in the Natal Chart

  • Check which house the planet is placed in the birth chart (fixed houses in Lal Kitab).
  • Note if it is exalted, debilitated, or in conjunction with other planets.
  • Identify its Fixed House Lord and Sign Lord to understand its basic nature.

Step 2: Determine the Planet’s House for the Current Year

  • Divide the native’s age by the house number of the planet in the birth chart.
  • The remainder tells which house the planet will give results from that year.
  • If remainder is 0, the planet will act as it does in the birth chart.

Example Calculation:

  • A person is 25 years old, and Moon is in House No.3 in the birth chart.
    • 25 ÷ 3 = remainder 1
    • Moon’s effect in the 25th year will be as if it is in House No.1.
  • If analyzing Sun in House No.11 for a 52-year-old:
    • 52 ÷ 11 = remainder 8
    • Sun will act as if in House No.8 that year.

Step 3: Analyze the Mutual Aspects & Conjunctions

  • Check if the planet is alone or conjoined with other planets.
  • If two or more planets are together, their joint effect must be analyzed.
  • Certain combinations can change results, e.g.:
    • Mars or Mercury alone in House No.5 = Malefic
    • Mars + Mercury together in House No.5 = Benefic

Example:

  • Venus alone in House No.9 = Malefic
  • Venus with Ketu in House No.9 = Benefic
  • Mercury in House No.3 = Malefic, but if Mars + Mercury are together, the effect improves.

Step 4: Determine the Monthly Timing of Effects

  • Each house corresponds to one month, starting from April (Vaisakh) as House No.1.
  • If the planet falls into House No.3 in that year, its effect will be felt in June-July (3rd month from Vaisakh).

House-to-Month Mapping:

House No.Month (Vikrami)Approx. Gregorian Month
1VaisakhApril-May
2JethMay-June
3AsadhJune-July
4SavanJuly-August
5BhadoAugust-September
6AsojSeptember-October
7KartikOctober-November
8MagharNovember-December
9PohDecember-January
10MaghJanuary-February
11FaganFebruary-March
12ChetMarch-April

Example:

  • If Mars is in House No.4, and in the annual chart, Sun is in House No.8, then Mars’s effects will be felt in the 8th month (November-December).

Step 5: Fine-Tune Predictions by Breaking Down Time (Year → Month → Week → Day → Hour)

  • Lal Kitab suggests moving specific planets for different time intervals:
Time PeriodPlanet to Move
Yearly ChartMove the Sun
Monthly ChartMove the Sun
Weekly ChartMove Venus
Daily ChartMove Mars
Hourly ChartMove Jupiter
Minute ChartMove Saturn
Seconds ChartMove Mercury
Degree-Wise InfluenceMove Moon
Night-Time ChartMove Rahu
Day-Time ChartMove Ketu

Example:

  • If a person is entering their 44th year on May 11, 5:43 PM:
    • The Annual Chart is prepared.
    • To get the Monthly Chart, move the Sun.
    • To get the Daily Chart, move Mars.
    • To get the Hourly Chart, move Jupiter.
    • To get the Minute Chart, move Saturn.

Step 6: Check for Past-Life Debts (Rin) & Apply Remedies

  • If a planet is afflicted, check if it represents a past-life debt (Rin).
  • If yes, remedies should be applied to neutralize its negative impact.
  • Example:
    • Rahu in House No.11 harms Jupiter (father, wealth, justice).
    • Remedy: Wear gold to strengthen Jupiter.

Final Steps:

  1. Locate the planet’s house in the natal chart.
  2. Divide the person’s age by that house number to determine the active house for the year.
  3. Check for conjunctions and mutual aspects.
  4. Determine which month the planet will be most active.
  5. Break down influences by week, day, and hour for accuracy.
  6. Check for karmic debts and apply remedies if needed.
